Prinz Eugen's Stern as it looked after emergency repairs in Norway in May 1942. The Prinz Eugen had been torpedoed off Trondheim on 23 February 1942 by the British submarine Trident (Commander G. M. Sladen) that scored a hit on her stern. The damage was severe, the rudder was blasted out, and 50 men lost their lives, but the ship managed to reach Trondheim by her own power. Repair work was then carried out by the repair ship Huascaran in the Lofjord a branch of the bigger Åsenfjord near Trondheim.
